A bit of cultural life today, nothing hot of the press but a few of my favorite picks for the eyes, ears and most of all for the brain!

LIVRES : : BOOKS

Remained unread on my bookshelf for a year before I decided to pick it up. Once done though, I couldn't put it down it was so good! Henry and Clare's love is so strong it defies his "chrono displacement" disorder. I'm such a sucker for love stories right now (don't ask...) Any suggestion for my next read?

Unfortunately, yet to be translated in English! I got it at the library and read it in two nights. A good dose of optimism as you discover how things happening in your life can change other people's life forever, and the same back to you!

FILMS : : MOVIES

The "organic adventure" the mayor of the small town of Barjac embarks his city on, in the quaint region of the Gard (southern France) is a courageous one. Out of the blue, he decides that all meals cooked at the school cafeteria will have to be organic, arguing that he'd rather pay an extra fee to properly feed the kids rather than paying their medical bills once they'll suffer from chemical induced cancers and other such horrors. Aside from this story, the director shows extracts from health conferences and reports from tests run in fields... Scary! I'm so thankful for our beloved weekly CSA basket! Yay for yummy vegetables!

A good surprise, under a gloomy and kind of disgusting picture, this movie actually echoes the situation endured by too many people, that of segregation and racial prejudice. Because even though the story here treats of aliens, everyone will come to think about refugee camps and the Apartheid, even more so as the story takes place in South Africa. A very original script for a story much deeper than what it seems!

MUSIQUE : : well, you got it, right ;-)

Music for men, de Gossip
J'adore "Heavy cross".

Loud up while dancing alone in my bathroom (yes, I do that sometimes!) or also to cover up my &#!!!% neighbor's stupid rap music (I hate rap music, but what I hate even more is people imposing so very loudly their own taste of music whenever they want to the whole floor...). I especially like "Heavy cross".

Dark undercoat d'Emily Jane White

Let's finish up today's list with a little gem. Very moody, vibrant and melodic, I just fell in love with Emily Jane white's folk. I really like "the demon".

~That's all folks!~

Tourner la page...

(english text follows)

On to next page...
Fall is here, the pumpkins have been harvested, it is cold out and the central heating has been turned on, now it's back to knitting and lounging.
Only a few days ago I was out boating!
In order to bring some warmth and exotism, I added a few branches of "strelitzia reginae", birds of paradise, to my decoration.

Les puces...

(english text follows)

Carrot cake, yummy! Recette bientôt dispo ici (click!)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "fleas"...

No, my cats are not covered infested!
The flea market season has officially started here, and we've already found some great bargains. I'm starting a collection of vintage clocks from the sixties, and finding great deals on liberty fabric buying old Cacharel shirts.
I also found this pretty cake stand, it didn't take long to put it in use!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A dose of cuteness erase all the bad things... Some people asked me how my cats were doing. Paika is enjoying the washing machine for her nap, Caramel (my parent's cat) let us have fun and bury him under the grass, and Cookie is still searching for the right spot. That's because it's already taken...
Help! My cat spend hours -for real- licking the sheepskin. Is this normal???
